What are personal AI agents?

Personal AI agents are always-on assistants that run on their own cloud computer, watch the apps you connect, do work in the background and ask before they take consequential actions. Four arrived from the largest AI companies in 2026: Meta's Muse (September), OpenAI's ChatGPT Dots (September), Anthropic's Claude Duet (October) and Google's Gemini Spark (announced in May). They share a shape: a cloud computer with a browser, connectors to email, calendars and business apps, memory, and an approval step. They differ in who they're built for, where they're available, and how they plug into the tools you already use.

Claude Duet (Anthropic)

Built for professionals and small business owners, Duet sends a morning brief, checks your connected apps every few hours and asks before sending, paying, signing or deleting. It reuses your Claude memory, skills and connectors, such as Gmail, QuickBooks, HubSpot and Docusign. • Availability: US-only research preview by waitlist, for Pro, Max and Ultra plans. • Stands out for: clear approval rules and blocked actions (no trading securities or moving money between accounts). • Source: Anthropic's announcement.

ChatGPT Dots (OpenAI)

A dot is an always-on agent inside ChatGPT with its own cloud computer and browser; you can reach the same dot in ChatGPT, Slack, Teams or by phone call. It tracks ongoing responsibilities, uses background agents for parallel work, and can connect to one personal computer to use local files. • Availability: rolling out to ChatGPT Pro users aged 18 and over outside the EEA, UK and Switzerland, and to business workspaces where an admin turns it on. • Stands out for: team channels (Slack and Teams), a browser you can open and inspect, and its own background research, which is read-only. • Source: OpenAI's dots documentation.

Meta Muse

Muse is a personal agent that you message in its own app or in WhatsApp, running on a dedicated "Secure VM" with a separate Sentinel agent that must approve anything reaching the internet. It checks with you before sensitive actions such as sending an email or making a purchase, and keeps an audit trail. • Availability: launched in the US, and in Singapore on 28 October 2026 with local connector partners including Shopee, Grab, Singapore Airlines, Agoda, ShopBack, Klook, Trip.com and Lazada. Free for most use, with paid plans. • For business: Meta's Muse for Small Business adds connectors such as QuickBooks, Shopify, Stripe, Canva, Slack and your Facebook and Instagram business accounts. That announcement covered the US and Canada, so check which connectors appear in your settings here. • Stands out for: WhatsApp access and consumer brands. Meta says Muse doesn't share your conversations with its ad systems and you can opt out of training.

Gemini Spark (Google)

Spark is Gemini's 24/7 agent, built into Gmail, Docs, Slides and other Workspace tools, that keeps working in the cloud after you close your laptop. Google says it asks first before high-stakes actions like spending money or sending emails. • Availability: started with trusted testers and a US beta, and has since expanded by plan and country. Google says features vary by subscription tier and geography, so check in your own account. • Stands out for: depth in Google Workspace, if your business already runs on it. • Source: Google's announcement.

How to choose for your business

Choose the agent that lives where your work already is, then judge it on its approval rules, not its demos. • You run on Google Workspace: look at Gemini Spark first. • Your team lives in Slack or Teams: ChatGPT Dots reaches you there. • Your customers are on WhatsApp and Instagram: Muse is the closest fit, and it's live in Singapore. • You already use Claude with QuickBooks, HubSpot or Docusign: Claude Duet, once it reaches your country. Whichever you pick, connect the fewest apps that do the job, keep approvals on, and remember every agent reading your inbox is reading personal data covered by the PDPA. Come and talk it through in person. Our year-end OTG Christmas Gathering is on Monday 28 December in Singapore: an evening of networking, dinner and a gift exchange with the people we've worked, learnt and built with this year. Bring the one job you'd most like to hand to an agent, and we'll talk through which tool fits. Register on Luma.
This guide is part of our series on proactive AI agents for business. Facts are checked against each company's own announcement and help pages as of 3 November 2026; these products are changing quickly. • What is Claude Duet?: Anthropic's proactive agent explained: what it does, who can use it, and its limits. • 10 ways a small business could use Claude Duet: morning briefs, invoice reminders, meeting prep and more, with the approvals that stay with you. • Claude Duet vs Claude Code vs Claude chat: which Claude to use for which kind of business work. • Personal AI agents in Singapore: what's available here now, and a safe way for a small business to start.

Frequently asked questions

What is the difference between Claude Duet and ChatGPT Dots?

Both are always-on agents with their own cloud computers that ask before consequential actions. Claude Duet is a separate app built around a morning brief and your Claude connectors, US-only for now. ChatGPT Dots live inside ChatGPT, can be reached in Slack, Teams or by call, and are available to Pro users in more countries.

Which personal AI agent is available in Singapore?

As of early November 2026, Meta Muse is available in Singapore, with local connectors such as Shopee, Grab and Singapore Airlines. ChatGPT Dots are rolling out to Pro users outside the EEA, UK and Switzerland. Claude Duet is US-only. Gemini Spark availability varies by plan and country, so check your account.

Are personal AI agents safe for business use?

They can be used safely with care. All four ask before key actions such as sending email or paying. Connect only the apps a job needs, keep approvals on, check numbers against their sources, and handle customer data under the PDPA. Agents can also be misled by hidden instructions in emails or web pages.

Do personal AI agents replace a virtual assistant?

Not fully. Agents are good at noticing, drafting and preparing: summarising the inbox, drafting replies, preparing briefs and chasing invoices. They still need a person to approve what goes out, handle judgement calls and manage relationships. For many small businesses they cover routine admin so the owner or assistant can focus elsewhere.
