How can a small business use Claude Duet?

The best uses are the recurring jobs an owner has to notice, chase or prepare for: the inbox, the calendar, unpaid invoices, follow-ups and meeting prep. Duet is built to watch your connected apps and come to you, so it suits work where the hard part is remembering, not doing. Below are ten uses, grouped by the three tracks we use with clients: Get Seen, Get Sales and Get Paid. Most are drawn from the examples in Anthropic's announcement and help centre. Duet is US-only for now, so treat this as a map of where agents are useful, which also applies to the tools available in Singapore.

Every day: the morning brief and the inbox

1. A morning brief. Each morning Duet looks across your email and calendar, picks what most needs you, and can start the first steps, such as drafting replies for you to review. 2. Inbox clean-up. "Clear out anything in my inbox that I don't need to read" is one of Anthropic's own example requests. Start by asking it to sort and summarise before you let it archive anything. 3. Calendar catches. In Anthropic's examples, Duet flagged a property viewing booked on the wrong day and noticed a client call sitting right before a flight. That's the kind of mistake that costs a small business a customer.

Get Seen: marketing and content

4. A campaign from a launch. With Canva connected, Duet can turn a product launch into a draft social campaign for you to edit. 5. A job posting. It can draft a posting and, once you edit and approve it, post it to LinkedIn. The approval step matters most here: nothing should go out in your brand's name without you reading it.

Get Sales: meetings and follow-ups

6. A brief before every meeting. "Pull together a brief on this company before my 2pm meeting" uses your calendar, email history and the web. 7. Follow-ups from your CRM. With HubSpot connected, it can draft follow-up emails using the contact and deal history. 8. Agreements for signature. It can help prepare an agreement and send it for review and signature through Docusign. Signing is one of the actions it always brings back to you.

Get Paid: invoices and books

9. Unpaid invoice reminders. With QuickBooks or Stripe connected, Duet can check for unpaid invoices and draft reminders for you to approve. 10. Business purchases with a one-time card. Using Stripe's Link or Shopify's Shop Pay, it can buy things for the business after you approve the spend, paying with a one-time card so your real card number isn't shared. Anthropic also lists running payroll in Gusto, a US payroll service. Singapore businesses would rely on local payroll tools, which may not have connectors yet.

What to keep for yourself

Keep prices, promises, hiring decisions and anything with legal weight. An agent that reads your email is reading other people's personal data, so follow the PDPA on purpose and consent, and only connect the accounts a job needs. • Approve every send, payment and signature yourself. • Check numbers against the source Duet cites. • Review what it remembers, and delete history you don't want kept.

How to start

Pick one daily job, connect only the apps it needs, and run it for two weeks before adding another. The morning brief plus invoice reminders is a good first pair: low risk, easy to check, and immediately useful. If you'd rather build repeatable work on your own machine now, our Get Seen, Get Sales, Get Paid guide does the same three tracks with Claude Code. Come and talk it through in person. Our year-end OTG Christmas Gathering is on Monday 28 December in Singapore: an evening of networking, dinner and a gift exchange with the people we've worked, learnt and built with this year. Bring the one job you'd most like to hand to an agent, and we'll talk through which tool fits. Register on Luma.
This guide is part of our series on proactive AI agents for business. Facts are checked against each company's own announcement and help pages as of 3 November 2026; these products are changing quickly. • What is Claude Duet?: Anthropic's proactive agent explained: what it does, who can use it, and its limits. • Claude Duet vs Claude Code vs Claude chat: which Claude to use for which kind of business work. • Personal AI agents compared: Claude Duet, ChatGPT Dots, Meta Muse and Gemini Spark side by side. • Personal AI agents in Singapore: what's available here now, and a safe way for a small business to start.

Frequently asked questions

What can Claude Duet do for a small business?

Claude Duet can send a morning brief from your email and calendar, draft replies, prepare meeting briefs, draft follow-ups from CRM history, check QuickBooks or Stripe for unpaid invoices and draft reminders, prepare agreements for e-signature and make approved purchases with a one-time card. It asks before sending, paying, signing or deleting.

Which apps does Claude Duet connect to?

It uses the connectors set up in your Claude account. Anthropic's help centre lists examples such as Gmail, Google Calendar, Google Drive, Slack, QuickBooks, HubSpot, Docusign and Calendly, plus Stripe, Link and Shop Pay. Some connectors work with limits during the preview, and Microsoft 365 isn't available yet.

Is it safe to let an AI agent read my business email?

It can be, with care. Connect only the accounts a task needs, keep approval on for anything sent or paid, and remember the email contains other people's personal data covered by the PDPA. Agents can also be misled by instructions hidden in emails or web pages, which is why approvals matter.

What should a small business automate first with an AI agent?

Start with a daily job that is low risk and easy to check, such as a morning summary of email and calendar, or drafting reminders for unpaid invoices. Run it for two weeks, correct what it gets wrong, then add the next job. Leave pricing and commitments with a person.
