Recurring scheduled tasks on Claude — making it infrastructure.

A workflow you run once is a curiosity. A workflow that runs every Monday is infrastructure. Here's how to schedule.

Overview

Workflows that run on a schedule turn Claude from a tool you reach for into infrastructure you depend on. Start with one small recurring task and expand only when it earns its place.

What to schedule first

Pick something low-stakes you'd genuinely use: • Monday 8am: weekly calendar audit. • Friday 5pm: weekly summary of what you shipped. • Daily 7pm: inbox triage for the day's emails.

How scheduling actually works

Claude doesn't have native cron yet. Use a workaround: schedule a Google Calendar event that triggers via Zapier, n8n, or a Google Apps Script. The script sends the prompt to Claude via API and emails you the result. Simpler in v1: run it manually for 2 weeks. Only automate once you've verified the prompt earns its place.

When to kill a recurring task

If you don't read the output for 2 weeks running, kill it. Recurring tasks compound only when they earn attention. If it's not earning, it's noise.
