Claude Cowork for SMB operations teams.
Three people running an SMB, two laptops, one Drive that's chaos. Cowork is the operations layer you don't have to hire.
Overview
Small operations teams are the sweet spot for Cowork: enough recurring work to systematise, not enough headcount to have a dedicated ops lead. Here's how to deploy it without confusing everyone.
One Claude Project, shared
Set up a single "Ops" Project on the founder's Claude Pro account. Drop the team's brand brief, operating handbook, and key SOPs in it. Anyone on the team running ops queries uses that Project.
Don't create a Project per person — you'll fragment context. The Project is the team's operating brain, not anyone's personal scratch.
Three recurring workflows
• Monday: review the team's week, propose where deep work blocks should sit.
• Friday: summarise what the team shipped, draft the customer / investor update.
• Quarterly: customer-touch audit, vendor renewal scan, internal admin sweep.
When to add CW-2
When the team has a recurring need to ship landing pages, internal tools, or small apps and is currently blocked because no one codes. CW-2 makes one person (usually the founder) the in-house builder.
