Claude Code prompts for non-engineers.
Ten prompt patterns that work when you don't have a CS degree.
Overview
Non-engineers tend to prompt Claude Code differently than developers. The prompts here are written for people who don't know what a useState is — and don't need to.
Describe the experience, not the code
"The home page should have a calm hero section with one sentence describing what I do and a single button to contact me." Claude figures out the markup.
Push back with feel words
"This looks too busy. Cut it in half." Claude responds to feel adjectives because frameworks have conventions for what 'less busy' looks like (more whitespace, fewer colours, simpler layout).
Ask for one fix at a time
Multi-change prompts ("fix this bug, change the hero, add a blog") confuse Claude. One change per prompt; review before the next.
