Vercel + Namecheap stack1 min read
Buying a .com on Namecheap — what to skip.
The checkout has a lot of upsells. Here's what to enable, what to ignore, and what to enable later.
Overview
Namecheap's checkout tries to upsell you on hosting, SSL, premium DNS, and email. Most of it you don't need.
Enable
• Auto-renewal (don't accidentally lose your domain).
• WhoisGuard / Domain Privacy (free, hides your contact info from public Whois).
Skip
• SSL Certificate — Vercel issues these free.
• Premium DNS — Vercel's DNS is included.
• Web Hosting — Vercel hosts.
• Private Email — only enable if you actually want @yourdomain email and don't have a better solution.
Enable later if you want
Email forwarding (free; routes anything@yourdomain to your real inbox). DNSSEC if you understand it.
