Buying a .ai domain — worth it for AI-focused brands.

.ai is expensive but signals positioning clearly. Here's when it makes sense.

Overview

.ai domains run US$60-100/year (10× a .com) but signal AI-focused positioning unambiguously. Worth it if your brand is genuinely AI-native.

When to pick .ai

• Your product or service is AI-native, not just AI-adjacent. • You want the SEO signal that your brand is AI-focused. • The .com is taken and you'd otherwise settle for a worse name.

When to skip

.com still has the widest trust. If your audience isn't deeply tech-literate, .ai might confuse — they'll type .com by mistake.

Where to buy

Namecheap sells .ai, as does Porkbun. Prices similar across registrars (~US$60-90/year). Same Vercel-DNS pattern after purchase.
